International Partnerships to Support Haiti
UNA-DR Works Unites International Students for Haitian Cause

At the 2009 Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) Meeting, the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR) unveiled its commitment to organizing the first Youth of the Americas Forum for Haiti, as well as a subsequent student Community Service Week. The goal is to cultivate partnerships between Dominican, Haitian, and international students to further action on some of Haiti's most pressing economic and social issues.

Haiti maintains the dubious distinction as the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. President Clinton and the UNA-DR share the view that to overcome its immense challenges, Haiti requires strong support from its international partners to tackle these urgent development challenges. CGI U staff continues to work with the UNA-DR to design and launch this joint effort among UNA-DR, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE/GFDD), and Action Ha'tienne pour les Nations Unies (AHNU).
